On January 12, 2022, Mr. Simone Panfili,Consul of and Director of VisaOffice, andProfessor Alessandra Guidi,Counselor ofScience and Technology of the Italian Embassy, accompanied by Shen Jianlei,Department of Major Projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, visitedthe China-Italy Belt & Road Joint laboratory on Advanced Manufacturing (CI-LAM)in the Department of Electrical Engineering of Tsinghua University. Professor Zhu Guiping, Deputy Director of the Department of Electrical Engineering, and Wang Jian, Vice Chairman of China Science and Technology Automation Alliance andPresidentof the Smart Factory Research Institute, attended the reception.

During the exchange, Wang Jian, on behalf of the Chinese side, introduced the related R&D fields, important academicand industry-university-research cooperationachievementsof the Department of Electrical Engineering,saying that the CI-LAM isan important bilateral cooperation platform between China and Italy,providinga series of activities such as innovation forums, summer schools, and technical seminars for scholars, students, and entrepreneurs, and creating opportunities for bothsidesin talent training, technological innovation, and industrial cooperation. Mr. Simone Panfili and Prof. Alessandra Guidi praised the contributions made by theCI-LAMin promoting and strengthening talent training and cutting-edge technology research and development in recent years, and expressed their gratitude to the core members of the joint laboratory for their unremitting efforts,hoping the CI-LAM can makegreater achievements in promoting academic exchanges in the field of advanced manufacturing between the two countries,and expanding advanced scientific and technological cooperation and the transformation of achievements.Then, theyvisited the R&D site and hardware and software facilities of the joint laboratory.
Symposium
China-Italy Belt & Road Joint laboratory on Advanced Manufacturing (CI-LAM) is the earliest cooperation project between China and Italyin smart manufacturing/smart factories and manufacturing digitalization, aiming topromote cooperation between the two countries in talent training and cutting-edge technology research and development, including technology transfer and entrepreneurial incubation, and its vision is to become the most effective and successfulbridge between China and Italy in advanced manufacturing and intelligent robotics.
